Why We Built bookclub.biz
We are former members of the UK's largest touring club. We know what it is like to arrive in a beautiful region and wish someone had written a book about it in English.
We also know that membership organisations are sitting on enormous, engaged audiences who would love a curated reading programme — but building one from scratch is expensive, time-consuming, and outside their core expertise.
bookclub.biz exists to solve that problem. We provide the books, the curation, the AI, the technology, and the fulfilment. The partner provides the audience. Everyone benefits.
The Technology
Built on modern, scalable web infrastructure with AI recommendations powered by Claude (Anthropic), print-on-demand via BookVault, and digital delivery for ebooks and audiobooks. GeoGuide — our GPS-triggered narrated touring — is, to our knowledge, unique in the publishing industry.
The Team
David Oldham
Co-founder, author, and publisher. David writes the heritage and touring titles that form the backbone of the D&H catalogue, drawing on decades of exploring the hidden corners of France.
Helen Oldham
Co-founder, editor, and researcher. Helen oversees editorial quality across the catalogue and leads the commissioning programme that connects authors with partner organisations.
The Content Pipeline
We do not just distribute books. We write them. We commission them. We help local experts create them through our BookBuilder guided interview tool. New titles are added to the platform continuously.
